Used car registrations go up 21% in Romania
About 111,600 used cars were registered in Romania in the first five months of the year, up 21.1% over the same period in 2015. By comparison, new passenger car registrations in the first five months were under 30,000.
Volkswagen was the most popular brand for second-hand purchases, with about 31,500 cars registered during this period.
In May, over 22,900 cars were registered in Romania, up 25.1% year-on-year. Of the total, over 6,400 were Volkswagen, up 26.1% year-on-year.
Opel ranked second in May, with about 3,700 units registered, followed by Ford, with 2,595 units, BMW, with over 1,760 units, and Audi, with over 1,770 cars.
Romania had about 5.15 million cars at the end of 2015, up 5% over the same period in 2014. Bucharest had over 950,000 cars at the end of last year.
