The value of the construction materials market in Romania is estimated at EUR 3 billion in 2014, of which EUR 1.2 - 1.3 billion will be imports, especially for luxury products, according to Claudiu Georgescu, president of the Association of Building Materials Producers from Romania (APMCR).

“At the moment, the construction materials market, as well as the construction industry, are at a very low level compared to 2008, which was our peak year,” said Georgescu.

According to construction companies, 2013 was the worst year for them since the start of the economic crisis. The building materials market, as well as the industry, decreased by up to 40 percent in the last five years.
