VAT for bread to stay at 9% in Romania, independent from IMF talks
The Value Added Tax (VAT) for bread and bakery products will stay at 9%, irrespective of the upcoming discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin, quoted by Agerpres.
The Romanian Government is currently analyzing whether to extend the 9% VAT to milk, meat, and fruits and vegetables. It will announce in September the effects of cutting the VAT from 24% to 9% for bread and bakery products, a year after the measure was introduced.
