Victor Ponta replaces Marian Vanghelie as head of the PSD Bucharest organisation
Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Victor Ponta will lead the Bucharest branch of the party during the “pre-election period”, after Marian Vanghelie was removed from this position. Victor Ponta made the announcement after the meeting of the PSD National Executive Committee held Monday, adding that it's a "strictly organizational" decision.
The PSD Bucharest organization will be led by a coordination office that will include four vice-presidents , respectively Rodica Nassar, Corina Cretu, Marian Vanghelie and Ecaterina Andronescu, and two former party presidents, Ion Iliescu and Adrian Nastase.
“There is nothing unusual; it's about political campaign and I agree that any person can bring an added-value to the organization in Bucharest”, said Marian Vanghelie. Time will tell if I am or not right for this position, he added.
Marian Vanghelie entered politics in 2000. He is currently a social-democrat politician, being the mayor of the 5th District in Bucharest.
