Vodafone Romania sees higher revenues, fewer customers

Vodafone Romania recorded revenues of EUR 174 million in the first three months of the year, up by 6.7% year-on-year.

The number of Vodafone users on the mobile phone segment dropped to 8.461 million at the end of March, from 8.463 million after the first three months of 2015.

The company had 3.47 million users with subscription, namely 41% of its mobile services clients. The telecom operator also had 56,000 customers on the landline internet services, up by 3,000 compared to the end of last year.

The average revenue per mobile users (ARPU) reached EUR 6.2 in the first quarter of the year. Subscription generated an average revenue per user of EUR 11.6. In the case of prepaid cards, this reached EUR 2.3.

Vodafone’s revenues in Romania in the fiscal year ended on March 31, 2016, reached EUR 688 million, seeing a 5.6% organic increase compared to the previous year. However, the profitability was lower and the British group wrote down some EUR 567 million of the value of its operations in Romania due to high competition in the market, according to the group’s report.
