Romania's National Meteorology Association has issued a code yellow for snow and blizzards across 31 counties in the south and east of the country, including the capital Bucharest. The weather warning is in place from 18:00 on Thursday onwards.
The counties of Caraş-Severin, Mehedinţi, Gorj, Dolj, Olt, Vâlcea, Argeş, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Dâmboviţa, Prahova, Buzău, Ilfov, Călăraşi, Constanţa, Tulcea, Brăila, Galaţi, Vrancea, Bacău and Vaslui will be affected. The code yellow will last until Friday (January 25 ) at 20:00.
