Three in four Romanians associate environmental protection with the notion of patriotism, especially men and pensioners, regardless of political preference.

Over 70% agree that non-patriotic events that offend the country should be sanctioned.

According to the survey, Romania’s pro-Western orientation is also reflected in its citizens’ views: 69% have confidence in the EU, 62% in the US and only 10% in Russia. Intellectuals seem to have less confidence in the West than those without higher education and the elderly.

Over 70% of respondents strongly disagree with the project related to Magyar’ autonomy.

Some 40% believe that a conflict with Russia is imminent, 25% say it is possible, and a similar percentage believe this will not happen. Nearly three quarters rely on US support. Based on gender, men are more confident than women that there will be a conflict.

Most Romanians, namely 45%, believe that Romania’s union with the Republic of Moldova will happen after Moldova’s entry into the EU. On the other hand, 30% think that the two events are independent.

The survey was conducted between February 16 and February 24 on a sample of 1,000 people.
