What’s the bribe for heart surgery in Romania?
The head of the cardiovascular surgery department of the Constanta County Emergency Hospital, was caught in the act by Romanian anticorruption prosecutors when receiving RON 3,000 (about EUR 680) from a private person to perform a heart surgery.
The surgeon allegedly conditioned the intervention on receiving the money, according to judicial sources quoted by Mediafax newswire. Other members of his team (an anaesthesiologist and another doctor) might have been involved in the deal, said the same sources.
