Where does Romania stand in the Global Creativity Index?
Australia, USA and New Zeeland are the most creative countries in the world, followed by Canada and four countries in Nordic Europe (Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Iceland), according to the Global Creativity Index 2015 compiled by the Martin Prosperity Institute.
Romania is only 68th in this study, which rates and ranks 139 nations worldwide on three parameters, the three Ts of economic development—talent, technology, and tolerance.
Romania ranks behind Botswana (61), Guatemala (64), and Trinidad and Tobago (67), but ahead of Mexico (73), Turkey (88), and India (99). Romania is also last in this ranking among the European Union countries, behind Hungary (28), Czech Republic (35), Poland (46), and even Bulgaria (48).
Of the three Ts, Romania ranks best for talent (on 60) and worst for tolerance (76).
Global creativity, as measured by the GCI, is closely connected to the economic development, competitiveness, and prosperity of nations. Countries that score highly on the GCI have higher levels of productivity (measured as economic output per person), competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and overall human development, according to the report.
Creativity is also closely connected to urbanization, with more urbanized nations scoring higher on the GCI. The GCI is associated with higher levels of equality. Nations that rank highly on the GCI also tend to be, on balance, more equal societies. Find the whole study here.
