Which are the most valuable companies in Romania?
Oil & gas company OMV Petrom is the most valuable company in Romania for the tenth year in a row, with a market capitalization of EUR 4.1 billion.
OMV Petrom is followed by other two state-owned companies that are active in the energy sector, namely the power producer Hidroelectrica, with a market value estimated at EUR 2.55 billion, and the gas producer Romgaz, with a market capitalization of EUR 2.54 billion, reports Ziarul Financiar.
OMV Petrom and Romgaz are listed companies while Hidroelectrica is unlisted and still in insolvency.
Telecom player Orange Romania comes next, with a calculated value of EUR 2.43 billion, followed by local investment fund Fondul Proprietatea, with EUR 2.12 billion. Car producer Automobile Dacia ranks seventh, with EUR 1.96 billion, surpassed by telecom group Telekom Romania, which has a market value of EUR 2.06 billion and made it to the top 10 for the first time.
The top 10 is dominated by companies in energy, telecom and the banking system.
Local lender Banca Transilvania is considered the most valuable entrepreneurial business in Romania, with a market capitalization of EUR 1.79 billion.
The results are shown in a ranking of the 100 most valuable companies in the country developed by Ziarul Financiar in collaboration with the investment house Capital Partners.
