Which are the most visited retail chains in Romania?
Kaufland, Lidl and Carrefour are the retail chains most visited by Romanians from urban areas, according to a study cited by local Dailybusiness.ro. In the last month, Kaufland was visited by 62% of the Romanians in the urban area, followed by Lidl with a share of 55% and Carrefour with 37%.
When it comes to the shops targeted for general purchases for the household, the top 3 is made of the same three stores: Kaufland – 28%, Lidl – 18% and Carrefour – 13%.
The products most frequently found in the shopping cart are fruits and vegetables (63%), bread (63%) and dairy products (62%). Sweets come next (56%), followed by non-alcoholic drinks (54%). The share of urban Romanians who buy cold cuts is of 50%, while that of buyers of fresh meat is of 38%.
On average, the amount Romanians spend on general purchases is RON 162 (some EUR 36).
