A new scandal has erupted amidst the Romanian state-owned television TVR. The two people who had won the elections to become TVR employees' representatives in the board of directors, Cornel Mihalache and Mihai Radulescu, were disqualified on Sunday (January 19) because they didn’t submit their criminal records.

Mihai Radulescu told local news agency Mediafax that according to the election regulation the candidates had to submit the “criminal record”.  Radulescu said he filed a statement that “he had no criminal record,” and that the “criminal record certificate” was asked by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) by e-mail, on Sunday, a non-working day.

Mihai Radulescu, who got 584 votes in the elections organized Friday (January 17), said he will contest the elections’ result.

Liviu Fetter (308 votes) and Sorin Burtea (303) were validated as employee representatives in SRTv’s Board of Directors, reports local media.
