Good news for skiers: Winter officially sets in Romania

02 December 2016

After a sunny December 1 in most of Romania, the weather is expected to turn bad in the next couple of days. Strong wind, sleet, and snow are expected all over the country.

This is good news for skiers as significant snowfall is expected in the high mountain areas, at over 1,700 meters.

The National Weather Administration - ANM has issued a yellow alert for wind in most of the country, but mainly in Western, Southern, and Eastern Romania. Meanwhile, blizzard will hit central and Northern Romania.

At high altitudes, the wind is going to reach 90 km per hour and significant snowfall is expected. The ANM has also issued a code orange for blizzard in several mountain areas, in Suceava, Neamt, Bistrita-Nasaud, and Cluj counties.

The alerts are valid for December 2.
