Wizz Air records advance of 34% in number of passengers transported to and from Romania in Q1

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, the biggest air carrier in Romania, recorded an advance of 34% (or 300,000 people) in the number of passengers transported to and from Romanian airports in the first three months of the year compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.45 million, reports local News.ro.

The company added two new aircraft to its fleet in Romania and began operating 13 new flights from its airports in Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Suceava, and Bucharest, according to Wizz Air representatives. In the first quarter of the year, Wizz Air transported 100,000 passengers on the Bucharest-Cluj Napoca route.

In 2016, the company was the leader in the local market, with 5.5 million passengers. It was followed by Blue Air, Tarom, and Ryanair.
