Wizz Air to connect Bucharest to Dubai with new flight this fall
Low cost airline Wizz Air recently added a new route connecting Bucharest to Dubai starting October this year, when the airline will operate at a new airport, Dubai World Central. Wizz Air is currently considering adding a new flight connecting Bucharest to Tel Aviv, and is negotiating to strike a deal for the new flight. For the new Dubai flight, prices will start at RON 319 (some EUR 71) and the flight takes around five hours. The airline will operate three flights a week on the new Bucharest – Dubai route. On this route, it will compete with Tarom and FlyDubai.
Wizz Air recently announced two upcoming new destinations from Bucharest, one in Italy and another in Spain. Flights to Perugia, around 150km North of Rome, will start on June 5. A day earlier, on June 4, Wizzair will begin its service to Girona in North Eastern Spain, in the country's Catalonia region, not far from Barcelona and the Costa Brava.
Low cost airline Wizz Air carried 2.7 million passengers to and from Romania in 2012, out of a total of 12 million passengers across all its markets, the company recently announced. The result for Romania was similar to 2011. Across all its markets, it plans to increase the number of passengers to 13.5 million in 2013.
Overall, the carrier added some 47 new routes in 2012, while its airplane load rate was of 85 percent on average.
The low cost carrier Wizz Air runs a fleet of 39 Airbus A320 airplanes from 16 bases, and serves 250 routes. The company employs 1,500 people in Central and Eastern Europe.
