Woman wins in court 14 hectares of land in eastern Bucharest
The Bucharest Court has decided to return several land plots belonging to the Bucharest City Hall, including one of over 6 hectares used by the Juventus Colentina football club, to a woman who claimed to be the heir of the former owner.
The value of these land plots, which had been confiscated by the communist regime, is estimated at tens of millions of euros, reports local Mediafax. The court’s decision is not final and the Bucharest City Hall will file an appeal.
The plots include the Motodrom park in the Colentina neighborhood, as well as several plots totaling almost 14 hectares in the Fundeni area, in eastern Bucharest. These include the stadium and training base of the Juventus Colentina football team as well as plots used by a private university, a gas station, apartment buildings, roads, alleys, and green spaces.
They were won in court by a woman who managed to convince the court that they belonged to her father and were abusively taken over during the communist regime and she is her heir. If the sentence remains final, the woman will receive some 8 hectares of land, including the Juventus Colentina stadium, and will be compensated in cash for the Motodrom park and the other plots currently occupied by buildings.
