Women’s Day special: Where to buy flowers in Bucharest?

07 March 2016

It is well known that women around the world love flowers, no matter if they are roses, tulips, or lilies. This is why men usually offer flowers to the women in their lives, especially on Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8. So, where can you buy flowers in Bucharest?

If you’re not very picky, the small street flower shops might be a good idea. You can find them almost everywhere: near metro and bus stations, next to markets, in Bucharest’s large squares (such as Piata Romana, Piata Universitatii, or Piata Unirii), or on large boulevards. You can also try Piata de Flori (The Flowers’ Market) located on Calea Rahovei street.

The prices can vary from RON 20 - RON 25 to over RON 100 for a bouquet. Be sure that on March 8 the flowers will be more expensive than on any other day of the year as the sellers will try to make a profit on this day. As a tip, tulips and fresias sell for RON 4-5 per piece today but some may try to push them even higher.

In this period, you can also see many florists selling flowers on the street, especially in crowded areas. Most of them sell spring flowers, such as snowdrops, in this period, especially near metro and bus stations.

You can also find flowers at the farmers' markets. At Obor you may buy them from people who picked them up this morning fom their own greenhouses. These flowers will have stronger perfume and will last longer as they are fresher. And they may also be cheaper than what you can find at street corners. However, the market will likely be very crowded.

Most of the shopping malls in Bucharest, such as Mega Mall, Baneasa Shopping City, and Sun Plaza, also host flower shops. Moreover, you can do your food shopping and buy beautiful flowers from the same place, as many of the hypermarkets and supermarkets in Bucharest sell flowers, especially during this period.

However, if you are rather busy and don’t have time to find a nice flower shop in Bucharest, you can order a beautiful bouquet online. The prices are good, and you have a wide range of flower arrangements to choose from. Moreover, these online shops help you deliver the flowers even to other cities.

For example, Magnolia.ro delivers flowers in 2-4 hours in Bucharest. If you choose Flordelosandes.ro, the delivery will take about three hours and no extra fee will be applied if the order’s value is over RON 80. You can also try Florariairis.ro, Floria.ro, Florariacupovesti.ro, Florariabotanique.ro, and Floridelux.ro.
