Taiwanese electronics group BenQ doubled its sales in Romania on the projector segment, in the second quarter of 2014, due to the football World Cup in Brazil. The overall market for projectors in Romania grew by 44%, in volume, and 52%, in value, in the same period, according to data published by FutureSource Consulting.

“The football World Cup in Brazil was an important driver for the market and generated sales increases for all projectors categories. During this period we saw a clear growth trend in Home Cinema models, due to higher demand but also to promotions that supported the sales growth,” said Dragos Salamac, country head BenQ for Romania.

BenQ says it is the leader on the projectors market segment in Romania with almost 50% market share, the company said. BenQ also sells LCD monitors, interactive flat panels and digital photo cameras.
