Young engineers create the first Romanian 3D printer
Romanian engineer Calin Brandabur presented last week at Techsylvania the first Romanian 3D printer, made only with local components. Techsylvania is the biggest technology and innovation event in Transylvania, and was organized in Cluj Napoca this year.
The Romanian 3D printer has a 5-time higher printing speed than similar printers on the local market. It can print objects with a height of up to 20-cm, in 4-5 hours. In comparison, a similar printer needs 8 hours to for similar items.
“We can increase the speed very much, without causing a vibration, due to the Delta system we used to build the printer, which also makes it so high-performing,” said Calin Brandabur, cited by local Agerpres.
Calin Brandabur gathered a team of four engineers to continue the research and production of the Symme3 model. They already invested EUR 30,000 in building the five prototypes of the printer.
So far, the engineer received 26 orders from Romania and 79 from abroad. Such a 3D printer will cost some EUR 1,500, and the inventor wants to start production soon.
