Second suicide at the metro in one month in Bucharest
A young man died on Thursday, March 24, after jumping in front of a subway train at the Constantin Brancoveanu metro station in Bucharest.
The incident, which according to the authorities was a suicide, took place at around 09:50, reports local Agerpres. The traffic was stopped on metro Line 2 after the incident, but it was resumed later the same morning.
Special intervention teams, Metrorex rescuers and emergency service teams arrived at the scene, but the man couldn’t be saved.
This is the second such incident at the Bucharest metro in less than a month. In early-March, another man died after jumping in front of a subway train at the Izvor metro station.
The previous such incident took place in May 2014 when the lawyer of famous Romanian businessman Dan Adamescu also jumped in front of the subway train.
