'Zdob si Zdub' band prepares album in English, launch expected around Christmas
Zdob si Zdub, a band coming from the Republic of Moldova, is preparing a new album, which will be launched around Christmas this year and which will be recorded in two versions, one for Europe and one for Romania. The album will feature songs mainly in English, with only three in Romanian.
The album, which was not yet named, is being recorded in Germany. The new album will more instrumental than the ones before.
Zdob si Zdub, a band whose name comes from the Romanian imitation of the drum song, was created in 1994 in the Republic of Moldova. They are playing songs in Romanian and their music bears hard rock, punk influences, as well as folk music influences.
The band is made of Roman Iagupov, the leading singer, who also plays the guitar and several traditional instruments; Valeriu Mazilu, who plays the trumpet; Mihai Gincu, who plays the bass guitar, drums, percussion and cobza; Victor Dandes plays the mouth-organ, piano, trombone, flute and accordion; Andrei Cebotari and Sveatoslav Starush are two former band members who have recently re-joined the band.
