Chinese electric car producer looks at Romania, Slovakia for new plant
An electric car producer that is part of Chinese group Geely wants to build a factory in Eastern Europe, and Romania and Slovakia are on the shortlist, according to the Slovak media cited by local Hotnews.ro.
The company is called Zhi Dou and produces small electric cars.
The Chinese producer plans to invest some EUR 400 million in the new plant, which should produce some 3,000 cars per month.
Some of the factors that may tilt the decision in Romania’s favor are the state aid offered for such investments, which may cover up to 50% of the costs, compared to only 35% in Slovakia, and the cheaper workforce, according to the Slovak media.
