Zoo in central Romania plans VR project
The Zoo in Braşov, a city in central Romania, has launched an auction to purchase a VR simulator. The project amounts to RON 580,000 (EUR 124,731), Economica.net reported.
The simulator will allow those visiting the zoo to experience a safari bus ride in the African savanna. During a 7 to 10-minute ride, visitors will be able to see wildlife such as lions, tigers, zebra and rhinoceros.
“They will also get some surprises during the ride. The [e.n. VR] bus will stand on a platform and when, for instance, a rhino will get close and touch the bus, the passengers will feel it,” Alin Pînza, the director of the Braşov Zoo, told Bizbrasov.ro.
The offers in the auction can be submitted until October 23. They are to be evaluated by December 20. The winner will have seven months to finish the project.
The cost for the VR bus ride will be separate from the entrance ticket to the zoo, currently priced at RON 13 (EUR 2.7) for adults and RON 5 (around EUR 1) for children, pupils, students and pensioners.
The Braşov Zoo is also working on setting up a planetarium and on finishing the works on the shelters for monkeys and lemurs as it prepares to welcome next month 23 such animals.
