Over 10,000 car services operated legally in Romania and recorded a turnover of more than USD 1 billion last year, according to an analysis by local financial consultancy firm KeysFin.

The number of businesses in this sector increased from 9,320 in 2010 to 10,031 in 2015.

Most car services are in Bucharest and Ilfov, followed by Constanta, Suceava, Brasov, Prahova, Iasi, and Timis.

In Bucharest, this business recorded a turnover of USD 211 million last year. The Ilfov county saw a turnover of USD 88 million in this sector whereas the car services in Constanta reported a turnover of USD 58 million in 2015.

According to KeysFin, the turnover in the sector has been constantly above USD 1 billion in the last years.

Over 6.6 million motor vehicles are registered in Romania. More than half of them are older than 10 years, according to official statistics.
