2015 Night of Museums: How many sleepless visitors in Romania?

The Night of Museums continues to be a success in Romania. Although data have not been entirely centralized, organizers expect the count to show a high number of visitors across the country.

Bucharest museums attracted more than 150,000 sleepless visitors this year, Romania-Insider.com has calculated based on partial data available on noapteamuzeelor.ro, the event's official website.

Bellu Cemetery was the most popular attraction this year – 25,000 visitors, followed by Antipa Museum – 13,300, the Romanian Peasant Museum – some 11,400 and George Enescu National Museum – over 10,800.

Other museums in Romania’s capital with large number of visitors were the National History Museum – 8,600, the National Art Museum – 8,400, Dimitrie Leonida National Technical Museum – 8,300, and the Village Museum – some 5,100, according to data on noapteamuzeelor.ro.

Across the country, the Ethnographic Museum of Moldova in Iasi attracted 12,500 visitors while Rasvan Agheluta Museum of Natural Sciences in Galati gathered 5,500 people.

Last year, over 453,000 visited the main museums and cultural institutions in Romania for the Night of Museums. Bucharest museums attracted over 190,000 visitors.

This year’s edition of the event was organized on May 16.
