Fun meets culture at the 2016 Museums Night in Romania
More than 170 museums and alternative cultural spaces in Romania will join the 2016 edition of the Long Night of Museums cultural event to be organized on May 21.
The event’s program includes museum circuits in several large Romanian cities such as Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, and Baia Mare, as well as related events such as concerts, screenings, mapping, performances, experimental workshops, and bike tours, according to the National Network of Museums in Romania, the event's organizer, reports local Agerpres.
This year’s edition will also come with a series of premiers, such as a free audio-video guidance app for mobile devices, and four museum circuits in the cities that candidate for the 2021 European Capital of Culture title, namely Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, and Baia Mare. Moreover, for the first time in the event’s history in Romania, the organizers also plan an after party, together with their partners from La firul ierbii initiative group.
Some of the Bucharest museums that have joined the cultural event this year are Sutu Palace, the National History Museum, the National Museum of Art, Filipescu-Cesianu House, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Cotroceni National Museum, the Romanian Peasant Museum, the Village Museum, the Romanian Aviation Museum, and Tudor Arghezi Memorial House.
