RO Govt. will offer “Kurzarbeit” support to local companies
Romania’s Government adopted in its meeting on Thursday a measure to support a flexible work schedule for companies that need such a measure and meet several conditions.
As part of this scheme, employees will receive 87.5% of their regular wages while working only 50% of their regular hours, and the Government will cover part of the salary costs.
“Understanding that declining orders lead to reduced activity and diminished workload for the employees, the Government has decided to adopt a measure to support a flexible working time where justified,” labor minister Violeta Alexandru said on Friday, August 28, News.ro reported.
She added that the companies together with their employees will decide when they will apply this measure, which is valid until the end of this year.
The Government will cover 75% of the difference between the employee’s full salary and the wage received from the employer during the reduced work program.
Thus, in the case of an employee who works only half of the regular hours in a month, the employer will pay 50% of the base salary and the Government will pay 37.5%, resulting in a total compensation of 87.5% of the regular salary.
However, to access this facility, a company must have at least 10% of its employees in this situation and it must have recorded a monthly turnover drop of at least 10% compared to the same month of the previous year.
