About 160,000 Romanians turn out for vote abroad
A number of 161,054 voters turned out for vote in the 294 polling stations abroad, in the first run of the Romanian presidential elections, according to results presented by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC).
The highest turnout abroad was recorded in Italy, with 35,508 voters, followed by Spain- 33,053, Moldavia- 21,980, Great Britain- 9,933, France-7,730, Germany- 8,140, Belgium- 6,442 and USA-6,221. In the past elections, the highest turnout abroad was recorded in the second run of the presidential elections in 2009, when 147.754 Romanians abroad turned out at the polls.
