About 5% of Romanian carriers enter insolvency every year
About 5% of Romania’s transport companies enter insolvency every year, especially because of infrastructure and tax-related issues, but also because of unfair competition, said Florinel Andrei, secretary general of the Romanian Association for International Road Transport (ARTRI).
Carriers are also affected by poor cash-flow control and poor management skills, reports local Capital.ro.
In a survey carried out by ARTRI, 66% of the respondents said that the sector would grow if the local infrastructure were to be developed. Most of the respondents (70%) believed that the sector’s main challenge is the decrease in demand for transport services.
Romania currently has about 31,000-32,000 registered carriers.
