Absorption of EU funds from 2007-2013 period reaches 81.73% in Romania

The current absorption of EU funds from the 2007-2013 period reached 81.73% in November, up 1.75 percentage points compared to the previous month, according to data from the EU Funds Ministry.

The current absorption, which represents the expenditure statements submitted to the European Commission, rose to EUR 15.57 billion. The effective absorption, which reflects the payments made by the European Commission, increased by 0.54 percentage points, to EUR 14.8 billion (78.08%).

The Operational Programme 'Increase of Economic Competitiveness' had a current absorption rate of 105.47% at the end of November this year. The programme’s main aim, as stated by the European Commission, was to bring an “increase of Romanian companies’ productivity, in compliance with the principles of sustainable development, and reducing the disparities compared to the average productivity of the European Union.”

The Operational Programme “Technical Assistance” had an absorption rate of 113.42% at the end of November this year. Romania also absorbed 85% of the funds for regional development, 78.5% of those for environment, and 77.3% of the funds for transport.
