Another Ghenie painting on sale at Bucharest auction this March
The Enigma painting by famous Romanian artist Adrian Ghenie will be on sale at the first Postwar and Contemporary Art Auction organized by Artmark auction house this year.
The painting, which is one of Ghenie's early creations, is estimated at EUR 15,000 - 25,000. The auction will take place on March 2, 19:00, at Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest.
The Artmark auction will also include other important artworks such as Arlechin painting by Corneliu Baba (estimated at EUR 2,500 – 3,500), Cuplu (EUR 35,000 – 55,000) and Taurul Negru EUR 25,000 – 45,000) by Ion Tuculescu, and Visare by Sabin Balasa (EUR 3,000 - 5,000).
In late-January this year, Flori (Flowers) painting by Adrian Ghenie was sold for EUR 22,000 at an auction organized by local auction house Godart. Ghenie, who is one of the most appreciated young artists in the world, set a new personal record last year, after his painting Nickelodeon sold for USD 9 million at the Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Auction organized by Christie’s in London.
Also on March 2, Artmark will organize the Rare Papers Auction, which will include three works belonging to Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn, as well as engravings signed by Albrecht Dürer, Lucas Cranach and Martin Schongauer. The auction will start at 20:00, and will take place at Athenee Palace Hilton in Bucharest.
