Alejandra Gatej resigns from Presidential Administration, to return to private business sector
Presidential counselor Alexandra Gatej (in picture) has resigned from the position she has held since July 2009 with the Presidential Administration following the 'speculative and denigrating' public approach of the news of her being recruited by the Securitate in 1989. Gatej will return to the private business environment, she has said. The National Council for the Study of Securitate Archives (CNSAS) has issued a decision saying Alexandra Gatej had not collaborated with the Securitate as she had not offered any information to Securitate officers. However, the public debate around the news has triggered unjustified attacks against Gatej, she has said in a statement.
Prior to joining the Presidential Administration as counselor, Alexandra Gatej has been chairman of Unilever South Central Europe. In July 2009, she was named presidential adviser on business affairs. Alexandra Gatej holds a diploma in Cybernetics from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and she is an Executive Education graduate of Wharton University, USA.
