Almost 70,000 tourists spend May 1 holiday at the Romanian seaside
Almost 70,000 tourists went to the seaside during the May 1 mini-holiday, and most of them chose the Mamaia and Vama Veche resorts, according to Corina Martin, deputy president of the Litoral – Delta Dunarii Association, cited by local Agerpres.
The association’s first estimates indicated 40,000 tourists at the seaside in the May 1 weekend but the actual figures were even higher.
Moreover, a tourist spent some EUR 300 at the seaside during the mini-holiday. This would result in total revenues of EUR 21 million for the hotel, restaurant, and club operators in seaside resorts.
Mamaia drew the biggest crowds as it also had the most events over the weekend. The electronic music festival Sunwaves took place in Mamaia between April 27 and May 1.
Mamaia is the most expensive Black Sea resort in Romania. Another popular destination was Vama Veche.
