Alpha Bank reduces loss in Romania
Lender Alpha Bank recorded pre-tax losses of EUR 6.5 million in the first quarter of the year in Romania.
The bank saw a loss of EUR 58.5 million last year. In the first quarter of 2014, Alpha Bank had a profit of EUR 1.4 million.
The non-performing loan ratio increased in the first three months of the year to 16.5% from 15.3% at the end of the year. The balance of credits rose by 3% year-on-year to EUR 2.95 billion. It exceeded the level of EUR 2.92 billion recorded at the end of December.
Alpha Bank had at the end of the first quarter a share of 5.8% on Romania’s loan market, below the level of 5.9% in December last year.
