Amazon announced on Wednesday that its online video streaming service Amazon Prime Video is now available in more than 200 countries and territories around the world, Romania included.

The new users in Romania can sign up at an introductory price of EUR 2.99 per month for the first six months, starting with a free 7-day trial. After the six months, the service price is EUR 5.99 per month.

The Amazon Prime Video is thus cheaper than its competitor Netflix, which was launched in Romania at the beginning of this year. A basic monthly subscription for Netflix costs EUR 7.99 for Romanian users.

Customers can sign up on PrimeVideo.com, and watch the content on Android and iOS phones and tablets, Fire Tablets, and popular LG and Samsung smart TVs. They can also download all movies and TV shows for offline viewing.

The users can watch popular new original series such as The Grand Tour from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, and award-winning Amazon Original Series such as The Man in the High Castle, Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle, and Tumble Leaf.

Besides Netflix, Amazon Prime Video's competitors on the Romanian market include HBO GO, which incudes popular international and local series and movies produced by HBO, as well as PRO TV group's Voyo.ro, and Antena group's Antena Play.
