Andre Rieu makes donation for Colectiv fire victims. Tickets now on sale for second concert in Romania this year
Famous Dutch violinist Andre Rieu was in Romania earlier this week, to donate the profit made from selling the Andre Rieu Live in Bucharest DVD. The proceeds of the sale went to the victims of a club fire that took place in Bucharest last year.
The total donation amounted to EUR 150,000 and was made during a charitable gala organized in Bucharest. Some of the club fire victims were also present at the event.
Thousands of copies of the DVD have been sold so far, and Carrefour Romania announced that it would re-launch it during the Easter holidays.
Andre Rieu was one of the personalities who came to light a candle at the Colectiv club in Bucharest soon after the tragic fire last year. On October 30, 2015, some 400 people were enjoying a rock concert at Colectiv club, when the fire started from some fireworks that lit one of the club’s pillars. 64 people died after the tragic fire, but many more were injured.
Rieu’s concerts in Romania last summer gathered more than 85,000 spectators. The violinist will return to Bucharest this June, together with his Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Although only one concert was announced for June 11, tickets are already on sale for a second concert on June 12. Both performances will take place in Bucharest’s Constitutiei Square, the same as last year.
Andre Rieu receives Bucharest’s honorary ambassador title.
