Andreea Paul Vass: In the second quarter we remain on positive economic growth
The second quarter will mark a positive economic growth in Romania, given that export growth remains strong, said Andreea Paul Vass, economic advisor to the Prime Minister Emil Boc.
“In the first four months we have recorded an increase of 36 percent in exports compared to the first four months of 2010. From this point of view, there are no concerns”, she added.
Jeffrey Franks, International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission chief in Romania, said recently that the advance in exports and industrial production slowed in the second quarter according to preliminary data, leading to an economic growth below the one reported in the first quarter. However, the IMF maintains its growth forecast so far of 1.5 percent for the whole year, based on the exceeded advance in the first quarter, according to the IMF official.
