Romania’s Făgăraş fortress hosts cultural festival this summer
The first edition of the cultural festival ArtFest Făgăraş is set to take place between June 21 and June 24 at the Făgăraş fortress, in central Romania. The event aims to place the city of Făgăraş on the cultural map of the country, to the benefit of the local community.
The event will cover film screenings, theater performances, concerts, sport activities and debates about the history of the Făgăraş area and its traditions.
Classic American movies will be screened both in the fortress’ courtyard and at the nearby Cultural House, with the support of the United States of America Embassy in Romania. Afterwards, the evenings will close with blues and rock concerts, featuring special guests.
ACT Theater will deliver shows featuring Marcel Iureș and George Mihăiță.
The multiple rowing champion Ivan Patzaichin and Rowmania Association will bring to the festival outdoor activities such as canoe competitions and rides on the fortress's water defense ditch. At the same time, the famous Lipitan horses of the Sâmbăta de Jos herd will parade in the city.
The space surrounding the fortress will host daily fairs of local products and crafts, sports and gastronomy activities.
The proceeds from the festival tickets and passes will be donated to a local NGO for social projects.
The program of the festival will be updated here.
