The Martisor special sales at the Artmark raised sales of EUR 574,000 last week, when it sold 302 objects of the 333 on sale in two auctions, exceeding the organizers' expectations.

Some of the highlights of the sales were a Nicolae Grigorescu painting called 'Flori de mar' (Apple Flowers), sold for EUR 55,000, and a trincket (martisor) valued at EUR 40 sold for EUR 1,700.  A coffee set sold for EUR 4,500. Over 400 people attended the auctions last week.

Artmark auction house reported total sales of almost EUR 11 million in 2011, representing 78 percent of Romania’s total public sales in the art market.
