Frenchman Patrick Espasa has stepped down from his position as board president of Auchan Romania, and has been replaced by Francois Remy. The move is part of French group's Auchan internal reorganization process announced in 2015.

Espasa was Auchan Romania’s general manager between 2009 and 2014. He is now executive president for retail at Auchan France.

Francois Remy, the new board president of Auchan Romania, will have a one-year mandate. He is also executive president of Auchan Luxembourg.

Romanian Ionut Ardeleanu was appointed general manager of Auchan’s operations in Romania in December 2015.

Auchan Romania opened its first hypermarket in Bucharest in November 2006. It currently owns 33 hypermarkets with a sales area of 280,000 sqm. Its sales topped EUR 1 billion in 2014.
