The Transport Ministry will start the auction for the Eroilor-Universitate metro line in Bucharest in the next few days, said transport minister Sorin Buse.

The project for the metro line connecting Bucharest to the Otopeni airport will also be presented to the Government in the next weeks, the minister added, reports local News.ro.

The line could be completed by 2020, when Bucharest will host four football matches of the European Championship, Buse said last week. The projects are aimed at easing traffic in Bucharest, by providing viable alternatives.

Buse said that he wanted to “advance” many projects.

“We are talking about auctions for 500 km of highways, 300 km of express roads, eight bypasses.”

The authorities are currently working on two main metro lines, namely the Drumul Taberei-Eroilor metro line, and well as the 1 Mai- Straulesti line. Both projects are facing big delays.
