Austrian insurer ups written premiums by a quarter in Romania
The Austrian group Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) underwrote gross premiums of EUR 445.7 million in Romania last year, up by 25% compared to 2014.
VIG is active in Romania via the companies Asirom, Omniasig, and BCR Asigurari de Viata.
On the damage and injury segment, the insurer underwrote premiums of EUR 363.1 million, up by 20.6% compared to 2014. On the life insurance segment, VIG recorded premiums of EUR 82.5 million, up by 51.8% compared to 2014.
At group level, the gross underwritten premiums dropped by 1.5% to EUR 9.2 billion, mainly due to drops in the Czech Republic (-5%) and Poland (-22.5%).
