Austrian packaging manufacturer closes factory near Bucharest
Constantia Flexible, an Austrian group that produces packaging for the food and beverage industry, will close its factory near Bucharest, leaving 90 workers unemployed.
The factory, which is located between Bucharest and Calarasi, will be closed by July, reports local Profit.ro.
The group will serve its customers in Romania from its other factories, which are located in Weiden (Germany), Ankara (Turkey), and Kleszczów (Poland).
In 2015, the plant in Romania recorded a loss of RON 9.9 million (EUR 2.1 million) at a turnover of RON 47.7 million (EUR 10.4 million). Between 2011 and 2015, the factory recorded losses every year, except for 2012, when it saw a profit of over RON 873,600 (EUR 191,700).
Constantia Flexible Group is one of the main global producer of packaging, with 55 factories and more than 10,000 employees in 24 countries. The group produces packaging for brands such as Danone, Nestle, PepsiCo, Ferrero, Sanofi, Coca-Cola, Heineken, and Carlsberg.
