Automobile Bavaria sells over 1,400 BMW cars, two Rolls Royces in Romania

The number of BMW cars sold in Romania through Automobile Bavaria advanced by 18 percent last year, to over 1,400 units last year, of the total 2,028 BMW cars sold in the country, reads a statement of the company.

MINI sales also went up by 50 percent in 2011, to 145 cars. Trucks generated revenues of EUR 100 million and recorded an increase of 80 percent compared to 2010, to 884 units.

For 2012, the company expects the truck market in Romania to reach a volume of 5,000 units. “This depends on how the economy evolves in Europe and on the financial resources available to truck customers,’ said Jorge Leuschner, general manager MHS Truck & Bus.

In the motorcycle segment, Automobile Bavaria’s reported 18 percent higher sales compared to 2010, while the market fell by 16 percent. Moreover, the company sold two Rolls Royce cars in Romania in 2011, namely a Rolls-Royce Phantom and a Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Automobile Bavaria plans a 10 percent increase in sales in 2012. “For BMW, we estimate sales of around 1,550 cars, for MINI we expect 153 cars, while for MAN trucks we aim to sell around 1,100 vehicles,” said Michael Schmidt, Automobile Bavaria Group’s chairman.

The group was founded in 1994 in Brasov, Romania, by Michael Schmidt. The company has offices in nine large cities in Romania and five in Germany.
