Average net salary in Romania goes up 5% in March
The average net salary in Romania reached RON 2,051 (EUR 457) in March, up by EUR 22.5, or 5.2%, over February.
The average salary is traditionally higher in March-April and December, due to yearly bonuses and holiday bonuses (for Christmas/Easter).
The biggest average earnings were recorded in the tobacco manufacturing, namely over EUR 1,400. On the other side, the hotels and restaurants sector saw the lowest earnings of just under EUR 260, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The average net salaries in the crude oil and natural gas sector saw the biggest increase in March over the previous month, namely 45.4%. The monthly growth in the tobacco manufacturing sector reached 33.9% whereas in the insurance and pension fund sectors, the monthly increase in the net average salary reached 20% - 22.5%.
The average net salary was 12.1% higher in March compared to March 2015.
