Romania celebrates Aviation Day with air parade

Several military aircraft and helicopters will participate in the celebration of the Romanian Aviation and Air Forces Day, scheduled for July 20, in Bucharest.

Military and religious ceremonies are scheduled for the day, when wreaths will be laid at the Monument of Air Heroes in the city’s Aviatorilor Square.

Various military aircraft of the Romanian Air Forces, the Internal Affairs Ministry, the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), and civil aircraft of the Civil Aviation School and Romania’s Air Club, a Tarom passenger aircraft, aircraft of the air acrobatics team Iacării Acrobaţi, and civilian aircraft of the Elie Carafoli Research Institute will fly in the area.

Among the fifteen military aircraft of the Romanian Air Forces, there will be F-16 Fighting Falcon, C-130 Hercules, C-27J Spartan, IAR-330 Puma, IAR-99 Standard, IAR-99 Şoim aircraft, and Mi-17, and EC-135 helicopters. There will also be a Cessna VC-560 aircraft of the Internal Affairs Ministry, three IAR-330 Puma helicopters of SRI, Tecnam 2006 and Piper Seneca V aircraft of the Civil Aviation School, two BN-2A Islander and one Beechcraft King Air 90 aircraft of the Elie Carafoli Institute, a B737 aircraft of Tarom, three IAK- 52 aircraft of Iacării Acrobaţi, and five Extra 300 aircraft of the Romanian Air Club.

The celebration will take place in accordance with the sanitary restrictions introduced because of the coronavirus pandemic.
