Bergenbier starts to produce and sell Czech beer Staropramen in Romania
Romanian beer producer Bergenbier has started producing and selling the Czech beer brand Staropramen in Romania. Bergenbier's factory in Ploiesti will producer the Prague beer under the license from Pivovary Staropramen. Around 300 million Staropramen were consumed in the world in 2010, with the world consumption 30 percent higher than in the Czech Republic.
The beer will be distributed in the HoReCa network, in traditional stores and in the supermarkets and hypermarkets in Romania.
Bergenbier, active since 1994, currently runs a production unit in Ploiesti and employs 600 people. Its products portfolio includes local brands Bergenbier and Noroc, as well as Stella Artois, Beck’s and Löwenbräu.
Bergenbier is owned by CVC Capital Partners, which also holds the company which produces the Staropramen beer in the Czech Republic.
