The Romanian Lottery, which has been investigated for money laundering by Romania’s anticorruption prosecutors this year, has awarded total prizes of EUR 108.3 million in the first nine months of the year, reads a Lottery press release.

In September, the total prizes awarded by the Lottery were close to EUR 13 million, EUR 11 million of which came from the slot machines the company operates, also known as video lottery. The classical lottery game Loto 6/49 awarded prizes of over EUR 1.35 million in September.

Starting October 1, the Romanian Lottery is no longer subordinated to the Finance Ministry, but has entered under the authority of the National Office for Gaming (ONJN). The National Anticorruption Directorate has investigated the Lottery for a damage of EUR 10 million.
