Biggest adventure park in Romania opens waterpark, sports center
Arsenal Park, a big leisure complex located in Orastie, Hunedoara County, south-western Transylvania, inaugurated a waterpark and spa and a sports center, following a EUR 2.7 million investment. Most of the investment was financed with EU non-reimbursable funds.
Besides the new spa and sports center, the complex includes a play area, a tree climbing trail, bike trails, a skate park, and a horseback riding center. It is also the largest outdoor military equipment museum in Romania, featuring some 150 military exhibits, including tanks, helicopters, and planes. The overall investment in the touristic complex, which was opened in 2009, is estimated at EUR 20 million, reports Stiri de Cluj.
Arsenal Park is located on an 88-hectare plot that belonged to a former weapons plant in Orastie. Local investors Marius Cristescu and Emil Cristescu bought the land in 2001 and started planning this resort.
The complex had 50,000 visitors last year. The owners expect that the waterpark and sport center will increase the number of visitors to 100,000 this year.
