Which are the biggest kids clothes retailers in Romania?
Polish group Pepco, which entered the Romanian market in 2014, has become the biggest kids clothes retailer in Romania, surpassing Spanish brand Zara, reports local Economica.net.
The sales of clothes for children on the local market are estimated at RON 1.42 billion (over EUR 310 million), according to a report by market research company Euromonitor. The demographic decline between 2013 and 2015 has also affected kids clothes sales, but this market segment saw a recovery in 2016, as the population’s revenues increased.
Pepco increased its kids clothes sales by 40% in 2016 and reached a market share of 6.9%. The sales increase was supported by the new store openings. Pepco operated 92 discount fashion stores in Romania, in November 2016.
Zara was second, with a market share of 5.1%, and Swedish retailer H&M came third, with 5%. Other significant players on this market segment were C&A, with 2.9% of the total sales, and sports retailer Decathlon, with 2.2%.
